Unsung Hero: Martin Luther King Jr

Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most influential members of the Civil Rights movement. He gave the “I Have A Dream” speech, which is one of the most famous speeches ever. His legacy lives on today, and he even had a holiday named after him.


Martin Luther King Jr. was discriminated against for his entire life, just because he was African-American.  His father was one of the earliest Civil Rights activists. He wanted to fight back against this unfair treatment. He dedicated his life to stopping segregation. He took the risks of protesting because he didn’t like being discriminated against.


Martin Luther King Jr wanted segregation and discrimination to not be allowed. African-Americans weren’t treated the same way as white people, just because of the color of their skin. He caused the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to be passed by Lyndon B. Johnson. He used peaceful protests to cause the U.S to stop segregation. 


Martin Luther King Jr. helped end segregation. He was killed marching in a peaceful protest on April 4, 1968. His death inspired people to keep fighting against segregation. He is an Unsung Hero because even though everyone knows who he is, they don’t know much about him. He was one of the most prominent figures in the Civil Rights movement. 


Martin Luther King Jr was one of the most influential and prominent figures of the Civil Rights movement. He stopped things that were wrong with peace, and dedicated his life to stop segregation and discrimination. His legacy will live on forever.

  1. I liked how you mentioned that even though people know who he is, they don't know much about him. I completely forgot that he had a holiday named after him. I Don't think he was killed when he was marching but I am not sure.
